I would be more likely to vote for a candidate that signed this pledge - unless my "lying-douchebag alarm" (patent pending) went off.

ahh .. the teabagger name .. you really got to doubt a person's maturity when they throw that term out when talking about politics.

The progressive pledge .. candidate must have a (D) after his name .. that's the only qualification.

Don't be a jerk. Not all progressives are Democrats or vote strictly democratic. If they did, they wouldn't call them progressives - they'd call them democrats. Or dumocrats, democraps, tax-and-spend-socialist-pig-dogs, etc.

I dislike the term teabaggers .. I dislike articles that use the word teabaggers as a derogatory term as if they were being clever.

I was not the one who used progressive pledge and started a thread about it, and if you notice the results 95% of the folks who took this poll thinks progressives are cool and teabaggers are jerks.

I realize that there are many repugs that will only vote for a person with an (R) behind their name. I think however that if you use the word teabagger .. then you are one of those people that really don't care about a candidate other than what party affiliation they have.

I vote for candidates from different party's myself and while I lean to the conservative I also have many liberal and libertarian beliefs as well.

If you substitute libertarian for 1/2 of the reasonable things the so called progressive thread supports then I can support those ... in fact - those progressives should be supporting Ron Paul because he at least supports more of their beliefs the current administration or the top two repug candidates that will be battling it out at the end .... but they won't .. as sadly stated above ... there are too many that will vote for a candidate just because they have a (D) or (R) after their name and not based upon principals of the candidate.

My reply was to your second paragraph. As for the name calling, it is from all sides - have you ever read the comments on Fox New? Calling for the death of the President, and all "libtards" who may support him, as well as anyone who disagrees with them. It scares me to know that so many people have such hatred towards everyone they imagine to have differing beliefs or opinions.

The only item on the FL pledge I could get behind is #2 (and #1 but with a caveat.)

However, every item on BB's pledge is just common-sense, live and let live stuff... peppered with what some consider to be bad words and offensive, unclever derogatory names.

Lastly, you must have seen a different poll than the one I referred to in my first comment. I didn't get to vote on who is cool or who is a jerk.

After reading both lists, I think that is the whole point.

Rigid doctrine is fine if you are running a religion, or a cult, but it is silly if you are running for public office.

This is especially so if your doctrine contains a lot of extremist wacko nonsense, such as stamping out porno or imposing someone's narrow religious beliefs on the whole nation.

Lets look at this pledge in term of the historical behavior of "progressive" candidates.

1) My intimate relationships are none of your goddam business. Initials:_____

Consistent so far.

2) I don 19t give a shit about the marital vows of others. Initials:_____

Whoops, that whole pro-gray marriage thing is most definitely about that. But I'll chalk that up to the poor ability of the author to articulate their actual point.

3) I will uphold the US Constitution and its separation of church and state, and I particularly note that it never mentions God, Jesus, or the Book of Leviticus. Initials:_____

Except for the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th, those apparantly are unimportant. Ohyeah, and chunks of the first don't matter either.

4) If you think that bigamy, polygamy, or polyandry is an existential threat to our country, get the fuck away from me. Initials:_____

Hmm, not seeing much support for bigamy or polygamy from the left.

5) What you eat, who you bang, how you spend your money, and how you raise your kids is none of my goddam business; I also suspect that Republicans have shitty sex in that all their men are hung like bullfinches and all their women wear petticoats to bed. Initials:_____

The left are the folks rolling out the salt bans, fat bans, soda taxes, etc. They are also the ones mandating vaccines, even pretty debatable ones like the HPV vaccine.

6) If you 19re married to a crack addict, a ne 19er-do-well, a close blood relative, or a raging right-wing asshole, I support your right to a 18quickie divorce. 19 Initials:_____

Or apparently if you are gay "cival unioned" up to another gay person. Seems that most of those laws, supported by the left, allow the union to be dissolved rather painlessly. At least painlessly if it is a fairly balanced two income household where you don't have any joint property without an additional contract between the couple.

7) I won 19t waste taxpayer money proposing, drafting, or defending unconstitutional bullshit laws just to make bigoted troglodytes happy. Initials:_____

The left however will waste taxpayer money on unconstitutional laws for tons of other reasons. Mostly to buy votes.

8) The US Constitution is fine just the way it is. Initials:_____

Except for a good chunk fo the bill of rights, and that interstate commerce clause that the left has to beat to death and play games with unfunded mandates and withholding money to get around.

9) I will do all I can to shield America 19s children from right-wing bedwetting, shameless scare tactics, base bigotry, animus toward others, and marauding teabaggers who seek to prey on their malleable spirits and fill their little minds with crazy batshit teabaggery. Initials:_____

Instead they must be filled with wacky leftist bigotry and lunacy like politically correct speech that is constantly revised, animus towards the religious, corporations, people with money, and the American lifestyle in general.

10) If you 19re a member of the US Armed Forces and you don 19t want to serve alongside your gay fellow Americans, don 19t let that dishonorable discharge hit your sorry ass on the way out, Sally. Initials:_____

Last I checked, even the left wasn't interested in forcing soldiers who don't agree with a policy to receive the equivalent of a low grade felony conviction on their record.

11) I oppose the state-sponsored imposition of evangelical Christianity and all other forms of tyranny and barbarism; I also oppose the use of taxpayer money to 18cure 19 gay people and promote self-loathing, depression, and suicide. Initials:_____

Might be somewhere near a party plank again with this one. Hard to tell.

12) I don 19t give a shit whether you have kids, how many kids you have, or whether you own pets. I would prefer, however, that mega-church morons who think that Moses came down from Mount Vernon and gave George Washington the Declaration of Independence stop breeding altogether. Initials:_____

Hmm, the left is leaning towards the no pets thing. But other than the anti-tea party ranting, probably spectrum safe.

13) Debt sucks ass; I won 19t start any unfunded wars or prescription drug programs; I won 19t give your money to oil companies, CEOs, and fat cats; and I 19ll support paying all the bills the government runs up. Initials:_____

Hmm, his side of the aisle has done everything on this list except pay all the bills, so...

14) I support your right to loathe and relentlessly mock religious bigots, teabaggers, fake patriots, and homophobes, and I join you in those endeavors. Initials:_____

But not the other way around, which is pretty in line with the progressive politics so..

All in all, a pretty poor alignment with his supposed political alignment, and definitely not something anyone form either party could honestly sign.

Also, the guy is a foaming at the mouth dumb ass who is essentially jsut as big an idiot as the people he is screaming about.

Regarding #2 - The issue is inequality, not banning other couples from getting married.

#4 - Bigamy and polygamy are illegal. Why would you expect progressives (or anyone) to support it?

Regarding most of the others, it seems you're being disingenuous.

Gay marriage is illegal in 41 states but we will soon make it legal in all states... After Shariah law is universally applied after the occupation things will change drastically.

Mr. Resurected, you do not know the power of the FF. After the occupation things will change drastically when Shariah law will reverse gay marriage, apply affirmative action only toward Arabs, close open borders, prevent interest bearing loans, destroy dogs and musical instruments and singers. and defund and reverse every progressive idea that we helped temporarily institute only as divide and conquer weapon to overcome the west.
