I don't get the joke. I don't really care for Jesse Jackson, but I don't find thuggery or grand theft auto amusing regardless of the victim. (For example the story would not be any funnier to me if it was George W Bush's car)
Also, the premise is totally wrong. I can see how conservatives might be opposed to the government regulations in principle that mandated mpg standards, but those regulations didn't kill Detroit's ability to compete with foreign car companies. If anything, they allowed the Big 3 to be more competitive with more fuel efficient imports than if Detroit was allowed to continue to build cars like the 1973 Impala which was big and comfortable, but which got terrible mileage. That is what they would have probably done if the federal CAFE standards were not imposed on them. Standards which Jesse Jackson had little to nothing to do with, by the way.
I also don't buy the 'hypocrisy' angle of rich and famous people who travel in large cars, or who travel in airplanes. How are they supposed to get from one location to another? Cars and planes use fossil fuels, but at the moment they are the only practical way to travel. There aren't any solar powered flying carpets available, not even for those who would rather preserve rather than pillage the natural environment.
It isn't hypocrisy to preach environmentalism and travel in the only manner currently available. And it certainly isn't funny that thugs and thieves are running wild in our streets.
I agree people should practice what they preach but to laugh at someones misfortune just shows the ugliness and hate in some peoples hearts.
It doesnt matter what people do.. He could drive an escalade or a pirus, some people have enough loathing that they will say something bad regardless.
It's a bit more complicated than that. You don't simply have a group that hates and a group that loves (although those groups exist).
Some people are on the fence. Hypocrisy is something that could tip the balance for those people. So, it does matter what a leader does.
On a different note, if someone steals the wheels off of a vehicle, does that constitute it being "stripped"? I wonder why they didn't take any parts except the wheels. Was it because they didn't have the time? Was it because they were lazy thieves? Or was it because there isn't a market for Escalade parts?
Not defending Jackson, he is a hypocrite on many levels.
But I don't get the story line that a person who advocates energy conservation (a good idea) has to get around on roller skates to avoid criticism that he or she isn't walking the walk.
Those who care about energy independence and those who don't really have to travel in much the same way at this point. There just aren't many alternatives. A solar powered car would be nice for the eco minded, but where can you rent one when you fly into Detroit (or anywhere else)?
The criticism is silly.
Thats true crabbsaline some people are on the fence.. Though not many on that fence would laugh at someone for his car being stripped. Also not many posters here are on the fence... So, i was just being nice and not mentioning any names.
As for wheels i really couldnt tell ya.
Jesse voluntarily allowed the van, part of the "JJ's rent-a-riot fleet," to be stripped in this impoverished city, as he knew insurance, paid for by justifiable retribution discrimination extortion threats to US corporations to support his community organization, via FF and Trial Lawyer instruction, would cover the loss and pay for all new parts. This indirect way to redistribute wealth, via the attack of rich and greedy insurance corporations who need to spread their wealth to level the playing field anyway, is perfectly acceptable and could only be accomplished by a man with a character and kindness wise enough to council Bill Clinton on adultery... even though he wants to cut BO's nuts off.
Seems i already broke you from troll persona once.. Do i really have to do it again? I'd rather not...
Mr. Kano's power and control is absolute.
I like how it took you 24 hours to respond yet you made plenty of posts between times.. Had to think that long for such an epic response? You are a bit rusty my trolling nonfriend.
