Ah well, atleast the left elected people who know which direction to hold a childrens book and havent "accidently" shot any of there own friends on the woods..
Biden is the comic relief of this Administration. 
In the sense that both guys tended to put foot in mouth, yes, but I believe that the comparison stops there.
Biden is a self made man from a blue collar background. Although a solid dem, he is very well known in Delaware as strongly pro-business (while being strongly pro-working people at the same time, no easy trick) He has earned respect the hard way in Delaware over a very long period of time.
Quayle came from a very prominent Indiana family, but never had the same qualities that made his ancestors successful. He was as marginal of a law student as the least of the Kennedy clan and was unremarkable as a politician, except for his verbal stumbles. He couldn't even really use his family background to general political advantage due to rather extreme politically incorrect leanings on the part of some of his ancestors. You could make a comparison with Joe Kennedy Senior in this respect, a guy who's bigotry would be out of place in modern American politics. Dan didn't have what it takes to make it on his own and couldn't really exploit his heritage so he just faded out into deserved obscurity.
You can rationalize all you like, but he's the same. VP isn't exactly nothing, and unless you run for pres, the next stop is usually.... Nothing.
You do have a point, Biden is hardly presidential timber. I don't see him going anywhere from VP but to Quayle type obscurity.
