While I don't agree with hammers interpretation, this is a perfect example of the government playing politics with your health care. Is counseling for those considering euthanasia a good thing? I would think so. However, because it tarnished the image of the health care plan, politicians removed it. Not because medical doctors advised against it, and not because therapists thought it was a waste; they removed it solely for political reasons. Do you really want these people in charge of your health care?
It does show that Queen Pelosi and Reid and others were trying to pass a partisan bill just as fast as they could because they thought they could ... they got away with TARP 1&2 and crap and trade didn't they.
A health care bill of this magnitude needs to be run through all the people in this country Senate and House of Rep ... irregardless of political affiliation. I think that is what is what is happening here - some give and take. I'd still like to see health care for all ... or just fix medicare.
It is a phony partisan issue in that there never were death panels. Nancy Pelosi was never going to decide if Granny gets the plug pulled on her, Granny was going to get to make that decision.
Taking the provision out just shows that the dems will cave in on the most sensible matters when conservatives are successful in blowing them out of proportion to the point of ridiculousness.
Making up phony scare stories to frighten the public into doing what isn't in their best interests is an ongoing hallmark of the modern American conservative movement, and this is an excellent example for anyone to see who wants to see this for what it is. Taking this provision out will do nothing but keep the power of life and death where it has been all along, in the hands of your friendly neighborhood health insurance company. Thanks all you teabaggers and Town Hall thugs for giving the insurance industry a much needed helping hand in their battle against patients and consumers!
How can you scrap death panels that never existed?
hammers
Democrats drop death panels from the healthcare legislation after Obama got in big trouble for laughing in public about pulling the plug on Granny. He also lied when he said such provisions were not in the law.
