Maybe Tesla Motors could fill GM's shoes on this. Not sure how Daimler would react, though.
so if toyota runs so goes the local content legislation eh? then throw all them damn toyotas out...
No toyota has other us plants. All of which cost less to run. If toyota walks, you just wind up with a closed factory and unemployed people in CA. Mainly because CA is so damn expensive.
they may have other plants but by volume how would that impact the us content percentages??.. if it falls under the minimum they need to go...all of em... and pay back the tax breaks and infrastructure too or face seizure of assets
It is an assembly plant of vehicles. The parts would still come from wherever they come from. The truck just drops them off at a different plant.
They are now half owners in the subaru plant, and that one is cheaper to own and carbon neutral. It is also not at capacity.

I refer to special grants given to companies on the basis of local content.... dont ship all the parts here and say it was assembled here so its local thats bs... freaking make toyotas in japan... there I said it.
Outstanding the way the FF;s plan to destroy western industry is working so well. California is the leader in the destruction program. NOw with the sky high consumer prices generated by cap and trade, the bankruptcy of the coal industry and the spreading of California style enviro laws throughout the US, everyone will become a hotel maid and later an unemployed hotel maid because there will be no business people traveling anymore. By the way, the FF is out to overturn the Supreme Decision that insured that the least intelligent people are given jobs and management positions -- yet another idea created by the FF to crash and burn US industry. We actually got the idea from an old twilight zone episode where a child came home sadly because he scored too high on a test and was rejected from being promoted to a higher grade.

I guess Toyota has more faith in California than Government Motors does ... thank you democrats for doing all you can to keep jobs in America. California doesn't need more jobs .. wait ... unemployment in Cali is over 11% .. I guess this is one way to lower pollution - just close some factories. Obama's plan is working!
