Nice gesture ...

"This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops felt about our 43rd president," Feherty said in a statement. "In retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize. As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad."

You would NEVER hear a retraction from the I am better than you liberals in the MSM with this sort apology.

First off, it is a very old joke just reworked into Pelosi, Reid, and bin Laden. It was sort of funny the first time I heard that, but it was so long ago, I can't remember who the first 3 characters were in the original joke.

Second, Pelosi deserves all the ridicule that comes her way, but for reasons that gives you conservative types nothing to crow about. For the first six years of Bush's presidency, his catastrophes were all owned by the GOP. The spending, the borrowing, the debt, the deregulation, the lack of oversight, the blind stupidity, all of it. All the factors that led to the downward spiral that Obama is desperately trying to pull us out of before it destroys all of us. Here is where Queen Bee Pelosi comes in; for the last two disastrous Dubya years, she was in a position to put the brakes on his rush to the edge of the economic abyss, but she did nothing. She totally failed to do her job which was loyal opposition. Well she didn't oppose shit, which is why she is a disgrace.

Of course she isn't responsible for Bush's behavior, that belongs to him. She had an opportunity to soften the blow all of us are feeling right now and she just let Bush take us to the brink, unopposed.

One last thing, I am not so sure that troop who had to pay for their own body armor, had 5 tours of duty due to stop loss, or who got inadequate medical help for their war related injuries are all so lovey dovey about Bush. The troops followed Bush as Commander in Chief as they would any president, but the loyalty was strictly one way. Bush didn't show a lot of loyalty to them.

You aren't telling the whole story.

When George W Bush was governor of Texas, he bent over backwards to give Enron every bit of help possible, mostly through deregulation. The company grew to be the nations #8 company, but then Enron's reckless (and unregulated) behavior destroyed the company.

Bush then became president and proceeded to the same favor to all businesses. During years of GOP majority, the Congress did not act as a separate branch of government, but as a rubber stamp for Bush. This was obviously a bad thing, but somewhat understandable since the president and Congress were all from the same Grand Old Party

Pelosi should have brought a halt to Bush's reckless behavior, or at least slowed it down but she did not.

THAT is why the economy is in near crash mode. Don't confuse the current attempt to repair the damage with the cause of the damage. The entire US economy was very near going the way of Enron when Bush finally left office. There shouldn't be any doubt about that.

Bush's apologists are trying to start the narrative on Jan 20, 2009 as if nothing unusual was happening up to that point. Don't be fooled by that.

Hey, here's a new flash every Democrat on the planet fails to mention. Our current President Obama has been in Congress for four years. He deserves some of the blame as well (at least, as much as every other Congressperson). Trying to shove off blame solely onto Bush, or Bush and Cheney, or Bush/Cheney/Pelosi, or any other subset of the executive and legislative branch is bullshit. They have all been a part of it, and they all deserve a portion of them blame. It is also not limited to the time since Bush took office. The economy has been on a track for disaster for several previous Presidents. Anything else is simply partisanship.

We live in a time of unprecedented failure of government and there is plenty of blame to go around. I agree with you on that point.

If, however, you want to spread the blame to include a freshman Senator, but not the president, then I am going to call bullshit partisanship on you.

I specifically call out the leadership in the House and Senate for their role in not preventing some of these disasters, but in my view that doesn't exonerate the people who actually perpetrated those disasters, which include the former president.

And if you read my statement closely, you'll notice I did not say Bush was innocent of wrongdoing, but you sound like a skipping record when you talk about government screw-ups. Every post you make with regards to problems to the government you blame Bush (I swear, I think you would blame Watergate on him if you could). Bush does not have a hand in every single problem currently in the government, they did not all originate with him, and yes, he did try to fix some of them.

Seriously, at this point I pity you. You have such deep dislike of Bush you can't seem to move past it. Dude, he's gone. Why don't you look to the future and try to fix the problems we have?
