Indeed. That has perplexed my for quite some time. The only conclusion that I can come to is that the black community has con artists like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton that will sue the fuck out of whites if they make jokes like that, while the white community has no such con artists that will sue blacks for the same thing.
If the white community were to do such a thing, however, it would clearly be deemed racist, and most certainly, reparations will be called for.

What I see here is a backlash to the liberal racism in the US. I believe the blacks in this country have the law's support and now it's a game of hearts and minds to achieve to equal status. Some of the comments here show that this is not the case. I remember a skit on SNL where Eddie Murphy put on whiteface and went around to banks and stores and got free stuff when no minorities where around. Maybe that was good indication of the generalization of whites by blacks? Well, as a white male in America, I have seen no real advantage in being what I am. Maybe I don't get pulled over as much. Maybe I don't get followed around in stores by employees who think I am going to steal because I am "one of those". And maybe if I were in LA, drunk driving, I wouldn't be dragged from my car, handcuffed and beaten with nightsticks.

I like threads like this one, it could go on forever. I wish when i went to school I could get a black scholarship, cause they didn't have any white ones. Not to mention I've never seen Ms. White USA, but somehow there is a Ms. Black USA, wonder if white girls can enter that one? Isn't that racial? Well maybe my kids, kids, will be able to get some money later in life, since the caucasions are soon to be a minority, with the increase of blacks, mexicans, asians and all in the US, but that won't happen..
i think these are just remnants of segregation. at that time 'colored' people had to have their own organizations (ie. miss usa). it is not necessary anymore.
In this day and age, you're right it's not necessary anymore. No one is *forcing* them to do "Ms Black USA" or have black people only at "Showtime at the Apollo". They're doing it to themselves, keeping themselves segregated. BLA.
WuWarrior, you are about the only one on the board that has any kind of common sense. The reason for "all black" events are mostly because they started back when blacks were not allowed to be apart of anything that was white. So they had to start their own events to get any sort of recongition. This is not the case anymore, but it is highly unlikely that they will just retire these events because they can now join and be apart of the white events. So the events remain.
On another note, I think Jesse's main point in this is to get it across to blacks that there actions/words/expressions directly effect what other blacks and whites (and everyone else) thinks of them. I for one get sick of the way blacks act as though they are all gangsters and pimps and rich and bling bling blah blah. It's sickening, but the whites are quick to put that on TV and show it to the world. And why not, they don't need to make any negative propaganda agains't blacks anymore, a few blacks are doing it for them. Put a few blacks (Nelly, Cash Money, etc.) on a prime spot with their big ass platinum necklaces talking about how all women are shit...and this is what the rest of the world thinks they are like. Pathetic.
DJ28, I actually agree with you (for once). That is amazingly unfair that blacks constantly make fun of white people, but get so overly offended when a white person makes fun of blacks. If they are willing to make fun of whites, then they should be more than willing to accpet what whites have to say back. Fair is Fair.
