When one becomes a parent .. rationailtiy some times leaves the equation.
I suggest curving the game scoring so that fragile self esteems are not hurt; or eliminate scoring or athletics altogether to eliminate the problem.
I can think of something that should be eliminated.

Build those child hood memories.

maybe the fact that i can never finish a project or i put it off until the last minute stems from the fact that my parents never did this to me.
i think i will do this when i have children.
