Speaking of hypocritical, I hope you're enjoying your weekend browsing madville. You can thank organized labor for the 40 hour work week standard that allows you to have a weekend off.

Are you seriously arguing that if someone supports a group's past actions, then they must support all of the same group's future actions?

If that's the case, I'm sure I can find a thing or two that Bush did that you would support.

If you're not outraged, you're simply not paying attention.

I hope you're enjoying your typical weekend hypocritical post. A few crappy remarks to people at MV on the weekend .. of course you never post anything of any use, merit, enjoyment for anyone, if you do post it is a political link or comment ... a typical nationalist - just take what others have done and then complain about it.

I worked 60 productive hours this past week .. how many productive hours did you work?

The article shows how the union was hypocritical ... hiring non union members to complain about non union workers. The money that paid for these workers probably came from union workers themselves .. and the guys they hired .. didn't give a dang about the unions great mankind effort - they just wanted a job.

I worked 60 hours this week and I've worked 6 days a week for nearly a decade now.

I know a guy that is 'on strike' because his union says to. He's been on strike for over 6 months now. Even if they give him another $5 an hour, he won't live long enough to ever make up the money he's lost in wages being on strike.

Fuck that.

Hope you enjoyed the overtime pay, which again is brought to you in large part by organized labor.

Actually - it's straight pay 5 days - 12 hours each day. I usually don't work 12 hour days but the situation dictated it. I did it for the team (Unions can't spell team or company) ... F* the union rip offs.

Honest pay for an honest work.

I hope you enjoy being wrong so much of the time .. seems like you are. Just keep telling your smug self how smart and important you are .. you're all that counts.

Seems like a very terrible situation if you're getting straight time for 60 hours worth of work. Obviously you're not salaried. If you're a contractor, you're getting ripped off if your contract doesn't provide for overtime pay above 40 hours or additional compensation of some sort. Everybody else's does. That sucks. That's not an "honest day's work." That's your company making out like a bandit on your mistake.

There is a job to do and we do it... that's how things get done on a budget .. the company doesn't go broke and the customer gets what he needs - and I have a job that didn't go to the lowest bidder or over seas. BTW the job is a salaried job.

Perhaps too many people work for the union and not for themselves and the pride they can take knowing they did the best job they could ... not the best job the union would allow them to do. I know you don't think much of 'The Man' - big companies and corporations but in my mind it is better to have a job working for them than no job at all.

Not everyone gets 1 1/2 for OT ... I realize some do. If I was working a Holiday then you do get compensated, otherwise not. I work with union employees at our company and sometimes getting a job done is very difficult with the rules they have to adhere too, which impacts the schedule, which impacts the customer and the bottom line.

Not getting overtime pay is no longer a union-only benefit. It's actually established labor law. If you did not get paid overtime, your company has violated the FLSA. If you are salaried, yet your pay is variable, it's likely you do not meet the basis test for a salaried worker under federal law. And this doesn't even take into consideration state law, which is often more stringent.

It sounds like you're getting fucked really hard on your pay and you have no problem with it. That doesn't make you a hard worker "taking one for the team." It makes you a pushover idiot. It doesn't even sound like you know your rights.

If your salaried - exempt - like I am - you don't get time and half.

For your edification of exempt and non exempt employees.

It doesn't sound like you know labor laws as well as you think you know them.

Thanks for trying to point out that I maybe getting screwed and that I am an idiot for not knowing my rights though .. that was very 'generous' of you.

General Pickett tried that very same thing .. he tried to take over the union forces at Gettysburg - July 3rd 1863. It didn't work out for him either.

:) I had to comment, as I only live about 15 minutes away from the Battlefield, and the anniversary of the first day of the battle coincides with my birthday. I've learned more about that subject in the past few years, than I can recall from school as a kid.
