Can someone explain to me why when the U.S. hosts the Olympics (ala Salt Lake, Lake Placid, etc.) and American fans run around with U.S. flags draped from their backs chanting U-S-A! It's okay. But when Canadians run around with the Maple Leaf tatooed to our cheek shouting GO CANADA! The foreign press (including American journalists) runs articles like the one above that say "The Games Should Be About The Athletes"??

There has been a lot of Canada bashing by American, British and Russian media and I can't figure it out. Perfect example...this guy actually called us Nazis. WTF!

articles like the one above..
It was the single moment that will forever cloud the Vancouver Olympics. During a training run on Feb. 12, just hours before the start of the Opening Ceremonies, the luge sled of Nodar Kumaritashvili struck the inside wall of the final turn of the Whistler track. Kumaritashvili, who hailed from the former Soviet republic of Georgia, was catapulted into a steel support column and died, at the age of 21. The accident called both the track's design, and the tactics of the host country, into question. Many luge athletes had openly wondered if the fastest track in the world was too dangerous, and why Canada had not offered other country's athletes more access to test it in the run-up to the Olympics.
That story's issue is a guy died... because they didnt wrap a steel support column.
the guy compared the german games not as nazi's but as being scripted by the host government...
and lamented about But from the opening ceremony to Sunday's closing, from the tragic death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili to Sunday's gold-medal hockey game, on the streets of Vancouver and at the Olympic venues, only a token nod was given to the rest of the world's athletes.
seems like the focus is on the dead guy and placing blame on the dead as opposed to who designed the track...but I no care...just pointing out stuff in your link...eh
Odd that I hadn't noticed any, the only bad press I read regarding Canada hosting the Olympics was from a Canadian blogger that I read from time to time.
That's interesting, cuz up here we have been inundated.
Oh, and @Sor_AWC... when you are travelling at 150 Kmph and flying head first through the air, padding on a steel I-beam isn't going to save you, despite what the dumb Texan wrote in his column.
The IOC approved the track before anyone went down it. It was built to be the most difficult run in the world because more advanced "lugers" wanted it that way. It's sad the kid died, but you can't blame a country for it. That would be like blaming the people of San Francisco for the death of Thomas Herrion who collapsed on the field (despite telling coaches he wasn't feeling well) during an exhibition game in 2005. Shit happens. It sucks.... but it happens. Oh, and as for the F'in link... the reason I posted it is because it's dead wrong all the way through. There is a well thought out rebutal here. So, thanks for pointing out what I have already disagreed with.
