I'm less bothered about his argument over what is a tax (semantically, he is probably right). I'm more concerned that he doesn't see the duplicity of saying that if I could afford coverage, but opt out in order to keep my money, I'm not taking responsibility for myself and being a burden upon the public who have to foot the bill if I am in an accident. HE says that is unacceptable. So how come it is acceptable that someone who makes below a certain income gets to do just that, and he wants to tax us to pay for it? somehow that's being responsible.

If you are going to argue semantics, injecting that kind of cognitive dissonance into it makes you seem like a big fat liar.

Mr. BO is right, tax increases to pay health care are not taxes. We do not like the word taxes. Taxes used to to pay for free housing, telephones, food and other voter enticements are not taxes either. The nasty word tax needs to changes to the word donation, but this donation would not be tax deductibles because we would not have taxes anymore.

A state is better governed which has but few laws, and those laws strictly observed. Some really wacky neocon named R. Decartes

I think BO is full of BS! Forcing people to buy thing they have to buy or forcing them to pay is a tax. they can use those tax credits to pay their bill if they don't want to get health insurance.

Force those bums to pay their bills. They can pay a monthly rate with a small interest rate.

If someone pointed a gun at you and demanded money that would be theft but if a small group of men calling themselves representatives write it down and do it then it's a tax.

It's too easy to use the threat of violence from the State to get others to do what you think is right instead of letting them live their own lives, keep their own property and purse their own interests.

I'm fed up with them telling me and my family what we need to do and then keep dipping further and further into my wallet and giving what they take to special interest groups.
