While a rather cheap shot at the government, it does make me wonder... what is Obama going to do if GM still ends up going under? The government has a long history of being a failure at running for-profit companies. Might the government force people to tax other car companies to keep GM afloat? Force people to buy a GM vehicle? Government involvement in this sort of thing is entirely too scary.

You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. - Charles Austin Beard

I think it should be required that all progressives, including progressive lawmakers, show their support for BO by buying and using Government Motors cars. Here are other beautiful and dependable cars built by other communist governments.

A state is better governed which has but few laws, and those laws strictly observed. Some really wacky neocon named R. Decartes

I take exception to your use of the term "other communist governments".

If you think the US is a communist government, I recommend that you relocate, sooner rather than later, to a real communist country. There are many to choose from, from balmy Cuba to frosty North Korea.

And let's see how your brand of smarmy cynicism toward the government goes over, over there. Let us know, if you can communicate through whatever Iron Curtain you decide to migrate beyond.

So now the folks who were crying that Bush was undermining the freedom of speech and weren't allowing them to complain are saying look, you can complain, try that in another country.

As well as saying that since you can complain, you should be happy and STFU.

The irony, it drips.

I am not demanding that it be taken down, I am not questioning steamed's patriotism, I am not calling for his head on a stick, I am not calling him a Saddam-lover, or telling him to be careful what he says, I am just expressing my opinion, as I did (if you recall) back when Dubya was (mis)leading the country.

I didn't let the slings and arrows stop me and I doubt if steamed will either. We are alike in that respect, except that I am on the side of freedom and democracy while steamed is on the side he is on.

Maybe you should consider what you call ironic, before you commit the sin you accuse others of.

Dude, you know what I'm talking about, and you along with about a bajillion other people who complained about Bush with great hyperbole got their panties in a bunch about their speech being curtailed in the midst of probably more political expression than we had seen in decades. Most perpetrated specifically by the same demographic bemoaning their oppression. When people told you to please shut about about being censored when you clearly were not you all got quite huffy.

Now you are saying the same shit, but somehow, it's special and different when YOUR side does it.

Of course, officially you aren't doing it, because you don't want to perceive yourself as doing the exact same thing as the other side. You know, cause you're all right and stuff, and they are just idiots.
