The fact is that you don't have to be a brainless celeb or a wooden politician to know that humans have to be good stewards of our home planet, because there isn't any other place for us to go. Plenty of human civilizations have come and gone due to climate changes or from enviornmental damage. We are just as vulnerable to a collapse of our food chain as any ancient civilization that isn't around anymore.
Sure, some people are enviornmental weenies, but the only thing worse is not caring if you have a future to live in. If you waste it, it will be gone.

(I still get letters from my stick up the ass home owner's association, but now I just show them to my lawn guy and tell him to fix whatever they are bitching about this time. Just today I got new mulch, some bushes and trees that got drowned by Hurricane Wilma, and some sod to round out my landscaping. All for the amount of effort it takes to write a check::grin::)

I've never seen Al Gore's movie. I don't need politicians telling me what I've already learned from science. I find it interesting that conservatives say "aha! You just believe this because Al Gore made a movie about it!" when you're doing the same thing with the Global Warming Swindle. I haven't seen either movies and I don't plan on it. Seriously man, educate yourself on the topic. Do some research on the internet, pick up a science journal, whatever. There is no way around the fact that it is real and man-made. Who would you rather believe, some douche bag who has a history of making stuff up in his 'documentaries', or people who actually study this stuff for a living?
All conservatives may not be creationists (thank God! ... or the FSM) but it seems like most of them have a hard time with scientific fact one way or another.

There are an over whelming number of scientists who agree there is a global warming. As to the causes we are not 100% sure. Could humans be having an effect? Sure, I do not see why not with the way we throw around chemicals all willy-nilly ::grin:: No matter who is to blame the simple matter is that the earth is warming. Will the warming of the world effect the way we live our lives? Most likely. So should we just do nothing because there are no concrete answers. That seems kinda silly.

But if the human component of global warming is not sufficient to make the difference between survival and extinction, perhaps our energy would best be spent on figuring out how to survive on a warmer planet than trying to find some planet saving moderation of behavior.
Especially when a LARGE portion of what is blamed for global warming has to do with the growth and manufacture of food, which is only going to get more critical with a growing population and a move towards fueling our society with agriculture..
Which is oddly enough one of the goals the global warming crowd is pushing us towards.
That's what I have been saying. The time to do something to stop it was back in the 1990s. It's too late for that. All we can do now is mitigate, preparing for the changes with massive civil and agricultural engineering projects, upgrades to public health systems, etc., and moving to clean energy to at least minimize future warming.
Except that the only thing that the climate corwd is pushing is screwing around with cars through regulation.

I never said that. I'm all about alternative energy. I can't stand our oil/mid-east problem. I'm about as green as you can get. I drive an Ethanol vehicle (and that's all I put in it), my house has solar panels on it. (I live in the desert) and about 20 percent of the energy I do use comes from Wind Farms. I seperate my plastics, paper, and cardboard and take them every week up to get recycled. I wish everyone would do the same but I cannot force them to do so.
