Would you go? It would be an interesting and rewarding way to spend the remainder of a life, wouldn't it?

I say we send congress first.

Religion is like a penis. It is fine to have one. It is fine to be proud of it. But please don't whip it out in public and start showing everyone. And please don't shove it down our childrens throat.

The FF would offer many volunteers if this could somehow be claimed as martyrdom - perhaps an infidel or two could be sent along for the martyr to sacrifice to Allah.

It would be far cheaper and easier if you don't have to worry about them coming back. That doesn't mean that they can't come back. If bringing them back is the most important part of the mission then you have to make sure you deliver a fully fueled rocket ship to Mars to bring them back. If you aren't as worried then you can send a rocket ship thats unfuelled with equipment to generate fuel. The second solution is a lot cheaper since 90% of the ships mass is fuel. The empty ship cost one tenth to deliver to Mars. This little difference is important since it is the difference between $100 bilion and $1 trillion.

Hey, the idea to send prisoners with life sentence to Mars.... could be useful to allow them a new life way from laws of Earth...
