Interesting. They left off a statistic, though: They failed to mention how many people chose zero.

Also, I'm wondering what percentage of people at the event were conservative as compared to liberal. If you went to a conservative only event, and threw out all the "zero" choices, would there still be people who want books censored? Or would all conservatives be opposed to censorship?

I'm guessing that it was not "conservatives" voting to ban those top five, as well as Breitbart, and Michael Savage Weiner.

What books made up the other 15% of votes?

They left the Communist Manifesto (0:0:21) off of the final summary. Maybe that?

Another thing to note that is if you have a 0.1% rating, that would indicate 1000 different people visited. If you manned a stand for 12 hours, that averages ~7 people every 5 minutes.

Also, I wonder how many people were serious. If you gave people a petition to formally sign, would they still do it?

Or, thinking they were being fooled with, were people voting for the class clown for class president?

I'll bet, that some of the votes were legit, though. They need to take it to a few other different population types before they say this one group of people represent the entire town of Chicago. It may...but it doesn't seem broad enough of a test to be representative.

EDIT: I just noticed that the posted the following update on their site:

Because you asked. Nine people explicitly stated to us they thought banning books was wrong, including two individuals who voted on the board but later approached us to say, (paraphrasing) I think I made a mistake, and wanted to take my votes back if I could, because after further reflection, I think banning any book is wrong. This accounts for 0.6% of the votes cast. We have provided percentages based on the number of votes cast, not the amount of people participating, due to the fact that some people did not use all three of the votes they were allowed. For those of you incapable of comprehending, for the record; this was not a scientific study.

I ban books all the time - by not purchasing or reading them.
