How much safer do you think the coal mines, the deep sea oil rigs, and the nuclear power plants are going to be when there is no federal oversight or regulation?
And how much better and safer are our goods and services going to be, or our working conditions, or our highways, bridges, airports, and so on when no one is minding the store anymore?
Granted they are doing a substandard job now, but how much better is it going to be when there are no checks and balances?
Yawn. federal oversight is overrated in your own words, but that is the states job not the federal.
None of that will matter, after the deficits wreck our economy.
People talk alot about no spending, no one wants to fit the bill though and also no one wants to do without.. Just wait till elections when schools have no money, teachers and unions are pissed, medicare is cut, etc.. Its going to hurt more then help i would imagine.
Obama will be reelected if the economy is in half way decent shape next fall, which is why the GOP is so urgently trying to get us back into a Recession, so they have a chance of getting the White House back.
Schools are one of the biggest wasters of our tax dollars. You could hire real babysitters for much less and get the same amount of learning in many schools. The economy will never be in decent shape as long as our government spending is so out of control.
The children's level of education does make us morn older education system when watching them exist in the real world when they can't count or read very well.
Should not walk so close behind Obama, since if he stopped too fast you might get a brown nose. The guy is a "hot mess" and could not lead himself out of a wet paper bag.

lol, and you think underfunding them, paying teachers nothing and having mediocre equiptment is going to help that issue in some strange way?
