Sounds cool. But what would it cost to convert all roads into this stuff if it works? I could see if successful, it would show up in small bits here and there. But not everywhere for a LONG time.
Rome wasn't built in a day...
True, but anything that costs these days, your not likely to find being highly popular.. I'll say i would love to have a simplified version of this as a driveway tho.. (would not need the fancy LED's)
Biggest issue I see with this imagining it as a whole is how does a rigid structure like that deal with settlement of the underlayment? Concrete cracks.
Also there is that whole concrete thing. It's not asphalt, and it is relatively cheap.
Imagining it as an gradually implemented technology, it loses a lot of it's benefits if done piecemeal. Also, from the clip, I didn't see any solar bits in it, just sign parts. Which is lame.
i thought each of the circles was a solar energy collector, as well as having LEDs to act as signs..
Oops, accidentally double-clicked the button and ended up with two repeated posts..
nope, the only thing with a solar cell in it is his little laminate model. He just has the worlds lowest resolution LED sign on demo there.

Pretty cool if they can do it. Bonus coolness is using stuff usually destined for landfills.
