Maybe that's one of the reasons why we cut the Raptor program. Keep in mind that a lot of American jobs are connected to "our stratagy".

With the quantity approach the limiting factor then becomes pilot training! You are going to lose a lot of pilots, when the kills are only limited by the number of missiles the Quality aircraft can carry! Swarming them under is a possible strategy, but you are going to take some pretty big loses in the opening engagements till you knock down the number of Quality Aircraft available!!

Cool plane, but something always bugs me when I see this kind of thing. Simply, we defeated Germany, who chose a quality over quantity model, using a quantity over quality model. We overwhelmed German forces using relatively cheap and highly producible equipment like the Sherman, the Stalin and the Mustang and won in spite of Germany's deployment of much more capable but less produceable equipment like the ME-262 and the Tiger. I suppose during the 50s through the 90s we could afford quality AND quantity, but maybe it's time to reevaluate our strategy.
