I absolutely LOVE catching them right when they first sign up.
Banned another guy last night. Cleaned up close to 200 posts. I noted that some past post by other banned users are still out there. Can I get an assist from my fellow mods on comment cleanup for the following users?:

I'll knock a few hundred of them out, but it gets a tad boring. Zem, I had know idea. In addition to being a Zembie, are you also a cyborg with dedicated connections to madville?
This huch guy was a real piece of work. His/her comment spams went back to 2003. I was hitting the baleet button on spam and splug that was next to comments by late great MVers such as Mookster, Guggalo, Newfie, and even Ice Cream Peter.
I hate that spluggy crap but you almost have to admire the fanaticism of some of these guys. They can crap all over our site 500 times in just a few minutes. WTF?

I wonder if Zemmy has any statistics on how many comments were deleted. Gotstabee a bazillion by now.
It would be easier if we could delete all a spammers posts at once - one at a time is time consuming .. a step in the right direction
I've got this POS down to 700 comments, got a lot of the others comments as well, they tend to post on the same links.
I whittled on a few .. you can often get three of the scumdogs huch ... nevgod and ffff all three spamming scumdogs by just going down huchs comments
It was some what interesting to go through all those old posts .. all the people who used to post at MV 
And all the links that no one ever posted on .. except the spammers.
Anyway as I said - a global delete function would be very good and I would think that a clever programmer could do that. 
Some sort of database query where the posts reside on the server ... whatever interface the MV site is built on.

I had the same experience in re-reading old posts. MV used to be a really kick ass site. It's a shame we may never regain the glory days.
I'm probably going to try to use lynx browser to parse out the http://madville.com/users/USERNAME/comments page, then do a mass delete based on the parsed comment id's. It ain't gonna be pretty, but I'm a rube goldberg kind of guy.
Having some problem with login in lynx. Will work on it more later. Knocked a few hundred more out tonight. Sleepy...zzzz.

Some may or may not already be cleaned up. The first 2 have to be the most annoying, due to their insane length and quadruple spacing. At least one of those has a response from Maude which should not be deleted.

I just now deleted about 30 spams from "grifefys" who had just started up and then noticed that the cockroach was still online spamming at that moment - they be banned now - Zem was right - it is good to catch them just as they start
Just curious why Kellychen was banned. Was she spamming? I saw it was a US IP.

Zem, I purposely left a few of Maude's eloquent retorts. I know it was supposed to be a scorched earth policy, but I left a few for children, in case they want to learn how sailors speak. 
Kellychen was the first person I have ever banned. She was spreading Spam just like the rest of them.

Seems they start popping up after 1:00 Pacific time. It was a bit later than when that I stopped playing one of the games submitted ::shakesfist:: and noticed that there were 3 online at that very moment: watche had over a 100 comments, nanimu had 8 and one other corpse-effer only 2. How rewarding it is to ban them mid-spam. After offing them, I went to bed and slept like a babe.
Of course...they are the future of the $#*$@ maritime profession.
