I would suggest making a non emergency call to the local police department/precinct in his area and simply explaining the situation and asking if there have been any incidents reported. I'm not certain if they will be able to divulge that info, but it couldn't hurt.
Good luck Cyn, I hope everything turns out alright.
Just called the Berkeley County Sheriffs Dept...gave 'em the facts and they said they're sending an officer out but that they wont necessarily call me back.
Doesn't mean that they won't though. *fingers crossed*
I hope all is well.

Maybe our resident medico, Mac has a better insight into this, but there is probably only one nearby hospital to where he lives.
Call it and give your dad's name as a patient (pretend that you know he is there) If he is a patient, they will put you through to his room if he can take calls. If they tell you that he can't take calls, at least you will know where he is. If they say he isn't a patient, at least you know something more than you did before you called.
Another idea might be to call a neighbor. Rural neighbors know everyone else business and might not mind blabbing what they know. If he is sick or hurt, they would know about it. Same for a church or some other organization that he frequents.
Sometimes a little cold calling can get results. The professionals call this "Smilin' and Dialin'"
Good luck, Cyn, I hope he is okay.
