UPDATE: This morning I got nearly the same message in my real email. The girl's name and her email address in Russia were different, but unmistakably the same style.
I am not going to respond because I believe in safe computing, but I wonder what the scam is. Do they send you some pix of a pretty girl then hit you up for airfare money to get to the US from Russia so she can hook up with you? If they could get money from hundreds of horny interested guys, they could net a pretty penny, I suppose.
That's my plan. Heh heh heh.
From what I understand, someone built what amounts to a slutty net-ho AI. Basically, it trawls for addresses off of forums, and tries to make contact as a member of said forum via means outside the forum (email or IM). It will then proceed to engage in an exchange via various methods and try to either get personal info out of you, or get you to check out infected sites that drop a trojan on your system.
It was getting better results in first contacts than plain old phishing emails, but wasn't getting as much information from those extra people. But get sucked in by step one, get harvested for spam address, step two, get harvested for IM spam, step three, get made part of a botnet, step 4, keylog for bank accounts, passwords, etc.
Or it could just be an imitating spam address harvester that avoids the complex part. Hard to tell without sticking your hand in the honeypot.
That's one honeypot I'm staying far away from...
