My dislikes have been made known.
Only new issue is the mouse over tour.
Is the site being geared towards retards? Because we have a very dedicated group of them here already.
retards Sounds like a French Name .. Jacques Something Poumpadoump Retards ... heh

Is that a sword in your hand, or you just happy to see me?
En Garde!

if you wanted to frighten me, you should have posted this pic instead~

Does this work for you, ah? AH?

TC -
While we understand your concern, we are making many, many, many changes on a daily basis based on feedback that we are receiving from users. We have almost stopped posting blog updates listing these changes unless they are huge since many of our previous blogs went with no comments from users.
We are working to complete a number of the items you listed above, most importantly, the stripping of characters which is a bug. We haven't been able to figure that one out yet. It's a bit puzzling as to why it is stripping those characters but we'll work on that more and hopefully resolve it soon.
In regard to the Popular and Recent links, unfortunately, we can't please everyone in this aspect. A number of users complained that they prefer to view the recent links rather then popular... but when they do, popular links were not included in that list and often they missed out on the best ones. We think the format right now makes the most sense in response to that feedback - if a user prefers to see every link submitted, they can view the Recent tab. If they prefer to only view the best links (similar to how moderators on the old version approved the best links for you guys), they can view the popular. The ability to view recent links is entirely optional - almost an additional feature that was only available to premiums on the old site. The links aren't redundant nor are they duplicates - it is simply the ability to view all links rather than only those chosen by the masses.
Removing Favorites - we'll look into this one. It was a priority to get favorites imported first per everyone's feedback. It's on our to do list.
Submitting Links - Descriptions are needed for a couple of reasons. The first being that it will make search more advanced as we go down that road. Second, it also helps with search engines finding our site since there are more keywords. Third, I may be speaking for myself, but titles can be deceiving - the description gives me a summary of what the article or story is about before clicking it. It may be one extra step when submitting, but we try to make that process a lot easier by auto filling in many of the input boxes for you. I do agree with you on the photos section, we'll work on that a bit more - perhaps only showing the image if its a caption and link out for everything else. How would you feel about that?
Related Videos: We've switched this to show a text link instead of thumbnails. I promised this one to Zem a few days back, just haven't had a chance to push. It should be live now.
Overall, we are doing our absolute best to listen to feedback and implement the suggestions presented. In return, we only ask that users understand that we do all this in our free time; that there are almost 0 ads on the site; and we put in hours upon hours each day of development time to improve on what you see before you. We are dedicated to continuing this effort and do enjoy listening to suggestions if anyone has any. While we understand how many of you preferred the old format, just as many were complaining how dated and buggy it was and that MIYH ignored all feedback from users.
The Internet is evolving and with your help we are hoping to find a good combination of simplicity of the old site with innovation of new features. With that said, keep providing us feedback that will make Madville easier and more enjoyable to use. I think we have an awesome platform and community so far and look forward to helping make this site even better.
Yeah, you put your pinky on the problem perfectly Peter, we got used to having an owner who ignored us and now it is getting pretty damned annoying with you two always asking for input and worse yet, implementing changes members ask for.
Enough of this crap! What's the problem with you guys anyway? Do you have something against buggy, glitchy websites or what?
Just leave bad enough alone!
By the way, since you really are taking requests, I request that steamed either quote me accurately in his signature line, or not at all.
That doesn't seem to be too much to ask, is it?
I am a + sign and I am a $ sign and I am a < and > and <3 and "quote" and 'quote'
Did this go through? We shall see!
TC - can you try now?
This is what I'm responding to your comment.
Every time I've used + or & the comment system minus everything that follows.
screencapped: and sent

That is SO much better!
quote symbols aren't working
+??:!$@^$&%*()(&^7~D~_DN%51|
just checking.
Maybe Im just becoming a crotchety auld mind even Gramps aint bitchin -- mehh, maybe Im just pissy.
You two have been more than accommodating with a lot of the requests and suggestions that have been made and I apologize if its not yet been stated; Thank you! Honestly having issues actually addressed is something that hadnt happened since the days of Jail.
Tabs; Im not going to get used too. I understand that filtering through submissions is a lot of work but again it was part of what made MV unique. The people *cough-person(thank you)-cough* that were responsible for it know/knew what the active members would be interested in as well as knowing what would attract the masses (for lack of a better term) and commit links to the site un-bias to personal opinion for that reason. Again I reference close-nit community. It weeded out site-plugging, over opinionated spamming and link whoring not mentioning any names.
Id hate to think that this site will become a Fark with a hundred/thousand faceless idiots commenting because its the interwebs and they can. Those sites dont have members that, even if lurkering, have been here for years without intent of leaving because of that bond. I dont know -- with all that Ive experienced MV go through over the years its always been that; the people that have maintained my being here and having just typed that I realize that maybe I should focus more on them as opposed to the fact the site has changed. Address their lack of activity. That they make this site what it is
Ben, Peter -- I meant no offence by any means. You have certainly put yourselves out there, been active in the community and listened to the members. Youll never please everyone (even if some asshat Canuck posts busting balls) but your efforts and commitment are appreciated.
/continuing to try and adapt to the new...

adding this separate because I'm tired of trying to edit comments.
PS the auto vote things sucks!
note message added using no characters outside of the alphabet to assure it posts

Can you email us what you are trying to paste. Every character we tried works - so it must be something unique you are using on that Canadian keyboard.
Canadian keyboard! Maybe it's your stinking 'merican programming.
Messaged you and shows that it was ok with everything I used... lemme know.

I just want to say that Ben & Peter are awesome and I support everything they do.
Oi! I better still get the points for my comments you deleted.
testing left now

I think this is the best we are going to get. The < character can't be the last character in your comment. As long as there is text after it you are good.
I really kinda wish I was just f-ing with you cause that would be gold but...
testing other characters after the image

this is what first brought it to my attention: "Deja vu" with accents
Dj Vu
^ works?

Accents should be fixed` right ?
Yeah because it is the last character in that line, it wont work. This is a PHP bug when stripping HTML. It assumes the < is broken HTML and removes it.
accents aren't working take a second look at Deja Vu outside of quotes. No that isn't the Canadian spelling.
You can post the left arrow so dammit I want to as well. FIXT IT!!! I know a guy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that's a whiz with coding if you guys need some help, just let me know.

Try the accents now, it was just pushed a few minutes ago after your comment.
Regarding the > you should be able to post it so long as there is a space or text after it like my this sentence.
I can < I can < w00t
g'dammit I better use that damned arrow a lot after the time spent on this. Accents didn't work though... sorry.

Just fixed - too many damn accent types.
Looks like you were using aigu type. Try now.

Honestly 'accents' aren't that important, perhaps the time could be better spent altering the "tabs"

^ I kid. Thanks Peter. Appreciated.

So many accent types. I think I just added a few more -- maybe?

^ How I've been posting it. What's the "19 FF/FD" thing you posted?

To all Madvillians...
If you see a dupe report it, stinks to browse through 'em.
And spluggers too!

Hey, at least we got the kiss back!
