Yes, they're calling it "3g" service. It is actually less than 2.5g. 3g is supposed to be atleast 192k/sec or something like that. Verizon is promoting it as 140k when nobody will ever get that speed. Actual speeds will be 40k to 60k.
Sprint will be starting their 3g service soon. It is not quite 3g but its much better than Verizon's.
Japan has real 3g. They can stream video on their phones. In a year, we will barely be able to stream audio.
Its just that the demand isn't here. Americans aren't as 'techno-savvy' as Asians are so we suffer with products that are dumbed down. It sucks for the few of us that can actually use it.
I'll keep an eye out for it.
