Sep 18, 07 01:28 pm — I'm not sure what to make of this show. I'm conflicted.
Half of me thinks it's towing a dangerous line between what is acceptable for entertainment and what is cruel. I think exposing these kids to this type of environment may be harmful to them, but i also think children are a lot more pampered and sheltered than ever before. I also think its going to be one of the greatest psychological experiments ever. I know despite the extreme agreements the parents signed, the children were still being watched by head shrinkers and medical staff, although accidents will happen. I think it will actually be worth watching, and not some mindless drivel.
Then theres the other half of me....ah yes the other half.....the not so optimistic and rational side. The side waiting to see if Thomas Hobbes comment on life without rule being "nasty, brutish, and short" is going to be true. The other half of me that wants to see "Lord of the Flies" play out all over the screen. I'll be the first to admit that it appeals to me on that level. The other half, that evil motherfucker.....he's the one who set my Tivo to record the entire season.....
What do you guys think about the show? Is it wrong? Is it acceptable? discuss.
All I know is that I'm so sick of reality TV that even if they come up with a new idea that might prove to be interesting, I'm disinclined to consider watching even one minute of it due to the nature of the other programs labeled "reality TV" being absolute mindless drivel that has failed to prove useful for anything other than killing braincells.
Why can't we get decent shows on TV anymore that have good acting and good scripts? Oh yeah, they refused to pay the writers fairly so now they take all the money and feed us pablum. 
I'll 2nd that. I refuse to watch reality TV except for Pinks on Speed (lose the race, lose your ride). Any parent who agreed to let their kid go to TV camp for the summer should first have his/her head examined and then be spayed and neutered. I'd rather watch reruns of WKRP and the original Twilight Zone.
I'ld rather watch SpongeBob rather than another fucking Reality Show.
I'm a fan of the hidden adult humor in SPSP. My 2.875 year old niece LOVES the show, and I'll be damned if I don't as well. Bring on the Crabby Patties.

Hell Yes. I'm all for idiots putting idiots at risk for entertainment. I won't watch it, but I'm for it.
