Mar 15, 04 10:49 am — ok, here's the situation: my boyfriend and i have been together for 3 years. early on in our relationship, he cheated on me by making out with another girl at a party. he voluntarily told me about it almost immediately and i almost dumped him then. however, somehow i got over it and we've moved on.
this past weekend we were at a celtic festival downtown, and we ran into his nephew and some other people. the girl that he cheated on me with was among these people, though i didn't notice it at the time. when we were in the car on the way home, i heard him mention to someone else "yeah, brooke [the girl] said she's living in her grandmother's old house now, etc..." this indicated to me that at some point when i wasn't around, he sat and had a conversation with her. now, i am incredibly pissed off about this, and in fact haven't had a civil conversation with him since saturday. he doesn't see what the big deal is, and said i'm "living in the past." what's your opinion?

I would disargree that "Rambus as a tech" IS good stuff. Sure it has a lot of bandwidth but the latency and heat output sucks.

Rambus isn't horrid but why pay such a premium for a slight advantage (if any). Furthermore, let's say that next year you want to upgrade from 256MB to 768MB (or whatever). How much will RIMMs cost you next year? I'm betting that it'll be even worse then than it is now (the premium over DDR memory that is).

No actually I don't. Obviously you guys have never worked at the enterprise level. You would know that Athlons are great for home use, but if you had to implement it in a large data center you might as well kiss your job goodbye. Rambus as a technology is awesome, and will kick the pants off DDR, but one computer geeks arent as avidly seeking the top notch technology, coupled with the fact that athlons are cheaper. DDR is popular because its cheap, that's it, and athlons are cheap. I have a 1.4 w/ 512 at home, but at work you want reliability and youll find none of that shit on a dell/compaq.
I can guarantee you that if the road flares called athlons supported the higher FSB (soon) coupled with Rambus would bust nuts. Unfortunetly, Intel fucked it up by trying to monopolize the technology by forcing a contract and keeping it to themselves.

From a guys point of view - he just had an innocent conversation with a girl he made with out three years ago. For a guy, a girl he made out last month is a long time ago. 3 years ago is ancient history.
I'm not saying you're living in the past - indeed, your fears are very justified. But you have to look at it from his point of view - in his mind, he's not doing anything wrong. And if you look at it from a 'non-girlfriend' perspective, you'll see what I mean.
I mean, you said that he must have talked to her behind your back - now think a bit, you said you were at a carnival. For how long could have he talked to her? 2-3 minutes tops? Probably.
The conversation was probably of the standard "Hey, how ya doing, what's up with you?" - "Hey, I'm pretty good, I moved there now, things are great." variety. Not much else can be said in a short block of time. I mean, it's not like they debated the existence of Christ and discussed the essence behind quantum physics.
And honestly, you cannot stop a guy from communicating with girls he might have done something with, ONCE, THREE years ago.
Oh, and that girl's lucky he remmembers her name, believe you me. It was a party - so he probably had a few drinks anyway. And you gotta respect his honesty - I mean, he did tell you right after it.

Seriously, follow your instincts. If you don't "think" you can trust him, do you ever wonder why?
If something happened in the past, chances are it may happen again. Ask yourself what type of person he is. What terms did you two get together under? Were you the "other woman"?
If he respects you he will understand when you ask what you ask. There is no reason needed. You want to know, so you ask. He is not obligated to answer, but in doing so he is telling you quite a bit. Don't settle for "yeah" or "naw" answers if that isn't what you want. You have to live your life the way you want, and if that means asking someone if there is something still there, or if someone has cheated etc, then by all means do it. Do you want to be a 60 year old hag with fried egg tits and a pancake ass wishing you would have done things differently when you were 22?
