Nov 26, 03 04:10 pm — Last month I had a series of hardware failures on one of my boxes. First my 2 ghz processor wouldn't go faster than 1.4ghz. So I bought a athlon XP2700 it was time for an upgrade, but ended up with the same problem. At that point I was pretty sure I had a bad motherboard, unfortunately the company I bought it from went belly up in August. So I bought another motherboard (actually the same model but with enhancements, serial ata, 400mhz fsb (I had 333)) and was back up again for... two days. A couple days later as I'm working on the RMA for the first Motherboard, my video card dies, it was a Gainward GF4600 Ultra 128megs, dual dvi, multiple monitor support, I paid $350 for it a little over a year ago and was not happy. I was kinda wanting to upgrade to an agp 8x card, but not really... not for what I was gonna have to pay. So I go to the site I got it from and find out that I have to go to the manufacturer for any warranty work. On Gainwards site I found out I had a one year warranty. A grown man almost cried when I found my reciept and it was dated July 2002. I sent them a letter anyway explaining the problem, expecting to either pay or to be told they don't repair them (I've had problems with ATI in the past). They responded back that I should ship it to them with a list of problems I was having. Well this week I got my motherboard back a MSI K7N2 They sent me the Delta version that has the faster FSB so I now have two of the same motherboard. It has a really cool diagnostics card that makes trouble shooting problems as easy as checking four lights on the back of your box. Today, my video card came in, and you know what, they sent me the GF 4800 Ultra with AGP 8X . So I'd have to recommend Gainward and MSI products to anyone looking. Unfortunately some companies out their get your money and that's it, they fail to support their products, or don't want to take responsibily for shoddy worksmanship. (Lately I've had problems with Dell RMA's not being sent, sending the wrong part, telling me I need something other that what is wrong, and they get NO RESPEC)
Can't we just go ahead and kill 'em. Now wait, W, I've got to have a little more patience before I start a new war on Chinese, erm, I mean terrorism.

Glad it all worked out. I have a sis motherboard that's working for now. But it's built in ethernet died on me recently out of nowhere. Now everytime I restart I'm hoping that the mobo doesn't die too.
Gainward has great customer support ... A while back (I think in your timeframe) they shipped a batch of cards with bad capacitors, which is probably why you got a brand new card in return .. Pretty sweet.
Freaking card died this morning I'm gonna ask them if I can send them a check for $200 and upgrade to a 5900 ultra 256m card...
