Apr 30, 03 11:55 pm — Well, I took the job.

Even though I told myself it wasn't what I wanted to do, and that after I had left the corporate world I would never go back.....I caved.

I made a "career decision" to go another direction a few years ago, after being put in the hospital due to stress. I summarily took the voluntary axe at the Telecom company I worked for (with a pitiful comp package at that), and signed up for Culinary school. Best decision I ever made, thank you very much.

Now I have an opportunity with an online diet food service, and I would mainly be "the" guy, in charge of the joint. I love cooking to death, mind you, most of my time is looking through cookbooks and online food sites (Epicurious, Cooks Illustrated, and Food Network are pretty good, BTW). The big dilemma comes that this is not a cooking gig, but rather a coordination-type thang. Ordering, scheduling, arrangements, packaging, production, and the ever-dreaded 'margins'. God, I hate that fucking word. I got beat over the head with it in the corporate world.

But, I have began to notice that it kinda SUCKS not having any money. Ah, there's the rub.

My wife has a great job, but how much can I wait to find the "perfect job" that does not exist? How can I buy the booze, games, and CD's that I so richly deserve? Gotta do the job thang. I guess I'll just give it a go and see where it takes me. I still have the Cooking School gig at the farmer's market on weekends.

But I still feel like a BFP......


(Yeah, I know. one of those pointless rants about your life nobody cares about. But sometimes, you just GOTTA...)
