That must be frustrating. Obviously it's something that can't be helped but do you know what causes it? Is it a nervous problem or is it something that just happens?
It's different from person to person. Some people it's a nervous thing, others it's a constant. Of course, I saw/read or something, about a kid who stuttered, and could get around it by sing-songy voice, something about the singing cut out the stutter, (this was also used in Mr. Rodgers, but the source i'm refering to is NOT Mr. Rogers, but a real life thing, i think it was adocumentary of some sort. I think it was on nerve disorders or speach disorders, not sure, my mom watches a lot of health and medical documentaries.
I heard a news report on this over 10 years ago that sounds very simular to what you are saying. They figured that the stutter would hear themself speak (moreso then non-stutter's) and it would cause them to try to "Hear and speak" at the same time causing the brain confusion and it caused the brain to reattempt to say the word again only to be heard again. Thats why a song would cure or stop the stuttering.
I stuttered as a kid. Used to get stuck on certain words. I remember "regular" being one of them. So I started substituting other words in their place: used medium instead in this case. Then I just grew out of it, I guess.
A buddy of mine stutters as an adult. You can tell it drives him crazy. It is at its worst when he lies.
There are ways around it yes, it sometimes occurs when people are nervous (most common case), or just out of the blue for no apparent reason. For a lot of people it's due to improper breathing - they let out all the air in their lungs too fast, and problems occur. I've also read that it has to do with something with the brain, and that it can be fixed with surgery, but I'm still a tad sceptic about the whole thing.
Stuttering is something I'd rather not have though, I must agree. It's certainly frustrating at times, and I did have some issues with low self-esteem, which thankfully are gone now. :)
I guess with time I learned to live with it, and accepted it as a part of my life. I will try to get rid of it completely in the future however.
My cousin has stuttered since we were kids and were both almost 30. I think it was frusteration that he had from living with 2 alcoholic parents that didn't really care. It seemed to get worse when things were bad at home.
He's a heroin addict with his own room at the state penn. now
STUTTERING
Beast goes to the doctor and tells the doctor"I c-c-can't s-s-stop s-s-stuttering".the doctor checks him over and says"the problem is your dick is to big and it's pulling down on your vocal cord and causing you to stutter.the way to fix it is to cut half of it off".Beast says "w-w-whatever it t-t-takes".
Six weeks later Beast goes back to the doctor and says"I don't stutter anymore but my wife and girlfriend left me.i want you to put it back on".The doctor said"F-F-Fuck y-y-you".
